I went to Dodge on a road trip to CO and boy was it depressing. I wanted to get a feel for the history of the wild west. The storefronts were cheesy looking and the town was in general not attractive. I went into a bar/diner on or near front street and politely asked a woman how to get out of Dodge. The feed lots and cheep tourist attractions ...
I will start by saying that I was in Dodge City in March, not August (for Dodge Days). I was overall dissappointed with a bunch of modern buildings with old west signage. The few things I did were designed for kids or those who only think the west was outlaws and indians. I would not recommend, but I'll probably go though one more time, just to make sure.
Dodge City didn't have much to offer a family. I have 2 kids 11 and 14 and they couldn't get past the smell of the feed lots. Stopped at the Boot Hill Museum and it was definitely designed for younger kids. It was not worth the money for my family.
Casey's steak house was awful. Not only was the food and service terrible it was overpriced.
I have been here in this area for 28 years and everytime I go back to Dodge I like it even more I have fun at a place where my great great grandfather drove cows in from my home state of Texas. Dodge City live and experience the legend Y'all never cease to amaze me take care pod'na

What I like about Dodge City is its great history. The fact to be in a place where once walking the streets was the seen of murders and gunfights. Its a peaceful place to live.
