Make sure to not use Map Quest to get around this town; you'll be doomed. The ghetto is just that and Halloween was spent w/the news talking about kids getting shot. Kids getting shot on Halloween!? I don't care if you say that's in the bad neighborhood cuz the rich can help this problem w/education and birth control.
it was slow and the people were disrespectfull to me and i hated it. the food was good the room was too small for me and my familey and the bathroom was unclean and what not
I moved to Peoria in 1991 to take a job at Bradley University.
Good: short commute times, affordable housing, good parks system, lots for a runner or a cyclist to do, nice public gym (Riverplex).
There is also an opera company, symphony, a decent library system, and the park district offers tons of low cost classes (e. g., yoga). The ...

OK Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/04/06
Peoria illinois is a somewhat good place to live in. The best thing about education is that they have a school called Washington Gifted School its ranked 1st in the state and 4th in the country. Try not to go to the Mark Twain hotel, it looks great on the outside is is lame on the inside.

Love the Galleria, and beautiful downtown.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
I loved the clubs and restaurants downtown and I also loved the shopping the people were very nice. This is a place very rich in the history of industry and the US prohibition, Grandview Drive is absolutely breathtaking this time of year. There is something for everyone whether its playing at Par- a-Dice(hotel and casino), waching Rivermen hockey, ...

Watch those road signs!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/05
Yikes...they warn you of road constuction, and it's every where...even intown! Lots of 1-way streets, and they, too, are under construction, or destruction. Too much going on at one time.
If you are not familiar with the area, we were out-of-state, you'd best go slow and really, really keep on your toes, for lanes disappear, your turns ...

I was born and raised in the Peoria area and continue to live in central Illinois. Peoria is an average small city. The population is around 114,000. The metropolitan area is about twice that size. The population is often quoted as over 350,000; however, that includes everyone in a 3-county radius, even those living 20 or 30 miles away, which is a ...

From the South Side
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/05
I was born and raised on the South Side and all I can say is that it's getting worse. Houses are being boarded up, businesses are moving out and I'm getting scared to go outside. Something needs to be done because once the last good guy leaves the South Side for the North...there's no going back.
I moved to Peoria in December 2002, after having lived in Chicago, as well as small towns in Southern Illiois. I feel like Peoria is the best of both worlds. It has a small-town feel, with many stores to shop in and restaurants to try. Best of all, no matter where I am in town, I'm no further than 20-30 minutes from home.
