WAIMEA CANYON IS ABSOLUTELY SPELL BOUNDING. ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORS. WE HAVE BEEN TO KAUAI THREE TIMES IN THE LAST SIX YEARS. WOULDN'T TRADE THIS ISLAND FOR ANY OF THE OTHER HAWAIIAN ISLANDS. IT IS DEFINITELY THE GARDEN ISLE.

I live in Hawaii and this site has confused three different locations. Each island has spots with identical names and it commonly causes confusion. The Kohala Waimea is on the big island of Hawaii and the town is often called Kamuela as well as Waimea.. Waimea Park is on the island of Oahu by North Shore and Waimea Canyon is on the island of Kauai. They are all delightful places, but worlds apart.

Waimea is a beautiful area and the canyon is marvelous. Even though the Kalalau trail is the hot hiking spot on Kauai, it was stifling and humid and hard to enjoy for me, but the climate at Waimea was tolerable and the highest elevation swamp in the world was something you won't see anywhere else. I highly recommend the hiking and the sights. ...

Waimea Falls is now known as Waimea Valley Park. What used to be a tourist "hot spot" on the North Shore has now been converted into an arboretum. Say good-bye to that quick tram ride up to the falls because it is now a three-quarter mile hike. On the way up, you can see abandoned stages where they had performances in the past AND ...
