Kauai is the most idyllic of all the Islands. Laid back, super scenic, truly friendly people. Have dinner at the Beach House in Poipu or take surfing lessons in Hanalei Bay. For sure see Waimea Canyon and go just a tad further to see Kalalu Lookout (lot of folks miss this majestic view thinking that Waimea Canyon is the end of the road). And for ...
Lihue is a new favorite for me. I am originally from the east coast and wouldn't trade that for the world, but this opened my eyes to a different beauty. I had been to Oahu in 1990 and enjoyed it, but the views were no where close in comparison to the island of Kauai. The waterfalls, blow hole and isolated rocks were breath taking for photos, ...
Loved every thing.. its so green and lush.. didnt mind the rain at all! Warm right down to my bones.. Fabulous! Not to mention the kayak trip to the waterfalls was lovely, and the helicopter ride was awesome.. Polihale beach was phenominal, as was camping at Hanalei (get a permit thru the county for camping, cause if you get caught without one you ...

Lihue has a great atmosphere. We went to a ton of great places and even saw where Jurassic Park was filmed. I would deffenitly like to retire their.
Kauai is an amazing place. The island has a restriction that limits all buildings to the height of the tallest palm tree, this makes for an island which is not spoilt by buildings like some of the other Hawaiian islands. Known as one of the wettest places on Earth, there is no shortage of rain on Kauai, but luckily most of the rain seems to hit the ...
There is alot to do on the island. Lihue is halfway between the north and south side of the island. The shopping and food is really diverse and reasonable. Kapaa is right up the road. Smith's luau and the river cruise to the fern grotto are also a must. There are public beaches theat are clean as well as the beaches at the resorts. Poipu is ...
Kaua'i is a garden island with many treasures to share (you just have to hike to get there). Upon arrival, your breath will be taken away at its beauty. My major dislike was how the locals treat the place like a dump. I saw much garbage on my hikes and even noticed one local just throw his trash out of his car. This is a great place to live your dream of a tropical paradise.
After having spent the first few days of our trip in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, it was really nice to be able to kick back and relax on Kauai. We found life on Kauai to be much slower paced, quieter, and relaxed than on Oahu. Instead of staying in a hotel or big resort, we opted to rent a cottage near the beach, which worked out just ...
