Kihei is completely overrated. It has some ocean scenery...yes. However, there is NOTHING in Kihei that you can't see or do on the mainland states of California, Texas, or Florida coastlines. Only, Kihei is way more expensive, yes, it's in Hawai'i, but so what? You wouldn't even know that you were in Hawai'i due to the LACK of ...
There is not enough room on this page to tell you the great things about Maui and Kihei. I've vacationed there three times and have worked on two occasions for 3 months each.
I've completely fallen for the Maui experience and only finances keep me from pulling up stakes and living there full time.
My Fiance' and I lived for 13 Months on Maui where I gave birth to my daughter Chloe' Grace. I learned a lot there. I learned to not sweat the small stuff. I learned the meaning of Aloha and to except people for who they are. I also learned to "relax"! The atmosphere was amazing. I worked at Lapperts Icecream on South Kihei ...
My home and my heart! Excellent beaches never crowded and tons of local entertainment. A great place to avoid crowds and blend in with them. I always recommend Charlie Young Beach as a place to hear the whale songs!

Not many late hour places to go in Kehei but your day will be so jammed packed you will want to go to bed early just so you can get ...
Kihei is very nice. It is in a very quiet, low-key location on Maui about 45 minutes from all the big resorts in Lahaina and Kaananapali. I think Kihei consists of mostly condominiums and a few nice beaches. The true highlight of Kihei is it's location. If you plan on doing a couple of activities on Maui this place is central to everything! It ...

Lots of "regular" grocery and drugstores in case you need snacks, sunscreen, etc. I don't like to pay resort prices for basic necessities!!! Lots of great restaurants (I hear, because the only ...

The Punahoa Beach Vacation Rentals. Right on the beach. Snorkeling is excellent and you don't have to leave your own private cove. #401 has a roof garden.
