This is a place that is easy to get around. On the square, go to the chamber/tourism place and get the information packets. Skip the walking tour, it's not that great. But the shops and places to eat are neat. Just a quick warning...the shops don't open till 10:30 or noon on Friday. There are a lot of great places to visit in the area as well.
Loved the town itself everyone friendly, but this is not a place to go unless you have extra money to spend on their city government, as they were ticketing out of town folks left and right.. A seat belt violation with tinted windows up at night!!!!!!!!

Love It!!!!

My wife and I visit this small town on a regular basis, and we always find something new. It is very close to other attracts and has alot of down home southern personality. Great for a family outing or a romantic get a way.
Dahlonega is something an european might not expect to run into in the US. But it'll steal your heart and you'll be tempted to go back to that little magic place. I was there for a year and never grew tired of the town with its exciting antique stores, gift shops and small art galleries. Local food is also excellent and people are extremely nice. And of course, the nature surrounding the town is just awesome.

A Good Simple Way of Life

This is the most adorable town you can imagine! The village itself made me think I was in a time warp when I drove into it, and the surrounding area is truly breathtaking. This is a vicinity where nature lovers can feel totally at home, with it's trees, creeks, rivers, waterfalls and the incredible majesty of its' mountains. My ...

We stayed at Cavender Creek Cabins, the cabins were beautiful they had hot tubs on the back porch, which looked out over the tree tops. We visited the town square which had "A Gold Museum" plus little shops and resturants. We toured a gold mine, it was very interesting and educational. We panned for gold! my 12 year old granddaughter ...

Lots of entertainment for kids. Hospital was needed and appreciated. Good staff.
Dahlonega is not a huge town - most of the town attractions are in the town square. There's a small variety of local crafts people making jewelry, pottery, traditional and folk art, etc, as well as a couple of smaller restaurants and a gold museum. The buildings have a late 19th century to early 20th century design to them, and if you go on a ...

neat place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/05
The town is very charming. You can a slower place of life. Althoughthere may be a lack of activities for teens at night, it is nice to see a small touristy town WITHOUT go carts and t-shirt shops! Plus they don't have an array of dirty little bars. If you ride a motorcycle, it is one of the best rides in the country! There are always festivals and entertainment going on over the weekends.
