I could walk the beach with my mom and Dad right from our hotel. I could swim in the pool and then go pick up seashells with Daddy. I also saw dolphins and 1000's of seagulls. I really liked Sanibel Island and I can't wait to go back.
Sanibel Island is a beautiful location. Laid back with a nice variety of unique shops, beaches with plenty of shells and opportunities to enjoy nature. The bike trails make a day trip around the island easy and mostly enjoyable. There are a few places where the bike trails follow busy roads.

WOW What a trip

Wow it was more than we expected. We stayed at Sandlefoot resort and it was very nice. The beach is lovely and I have never seen so many shells unbroken. the water was so warm it felt like bath water at times. it rained everyday we were there for a short period but that didnt stop the fun. terrible week on sanibel

We stayed at pelican roost which the condo was ok for the 1400 we paid however they did not tell us the beaches were covered in a brown horrible seaweed that stunk. you could not go in the water we had to drive to capativia everyday to go in the water,.

I love Sanibel because it is so beautiful. And peaceful. The beach is a little hard on the feet because of all the shells but the treasures you can find. Cones, Murex, King Crowns, you never know what you will find next.
Sanibel Island is a beautiful getaway. Palm trees, colorful flowers, amazing birds, and lots of seashells!! Most of the restaurants are home-owned. Sure it has beaches and nice weather, but so do many places. What you get with Sanibel is a laid back, tropical feel. As soon as you cross the causeway you know you are some place special.
