I have lived in Port Charlotte for 16 yrs, moved from NJ.

The skies are beautiful even when raining, it's growing too fast but at least it is better then living in Ft. Myers or Sarasota. We are not for college age kids who want to party all night, we are better for families and couples.

I'm not big on shopping as a vacation activity but I will say, if we needed something we could find it. The beaches were beautiful. I spent several hours snorkeling and found olive snails and sea stars everywhere (please don't take live animals as momentos). We will definitely go back if given the chance.

Hi I just moved to Florida and port charlotte is not a very interesting place to reside. In fact Their is not a lot of shopping options in the area, you have to travel at LEAST 45mins plus just to find decent shopping locations. Anyone who is interested in moving to boring dull Port Charlotte, please consider Tampa, Orlando, or any other town 1st. Saving you from wasting your time.

We like Port Charlotte and Englewood because everything is fairly accessible by car or even walking. We have been coming to Port Charlotte on and off since 1988. There's one main road (41) that travels straight through Port Charlotte and continues south to Punta Gorda and north to North Port.
