  • Jax is Most Livable Major City in Florida
    By joe, 02/14/09
Not overrun with tourists and seasonal residents. A real city with a sense of community and committment. Located at the border of the temperate and tropical weather zones it has mild seasons but leans toward mostly warmer in winter. Southern in heritage but shedding it like Atlanta as it grows and matures with a more cosmo culture.

  • Jacksonville is the best city in the world
    By EricaH, 02/12/09
I love everything Jacksonville. We have sugar white beaches, a beautiful river, a "big city feel" AND a "small town feel". We have an international airport and the cost of living here is pretty good. I write all about Jacksonville in my blog www.outandaboutinjax.blogspot.com Check it out! It has a listing by week of interesting events in Jacksonville as well as journal entries about the events I attend.

  • Many other better places in Florida
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/08
I have absolutely no idea why anyone would go to Jacksonville if they were vacationing in Florida. Unless you love football (Florida State and the Jags) or fishing, there really isn't anything else to do there. It doesn't compare to better vacation spots in the state like Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Key West. Living here? If you like out of ...

  • Lived here 8 years
    By jaxfl25m, 10/21/08
I lived there 8 years from the Westside to the Ponte Vedra Beaches. I think things are improving.

The Jags are the best thing in town by far.

The people aren't so nice. :(

Low population density makes it harder to meet people.

Very spread out, most folks stay in there own area/side of town. Kind of "clickish."

    Lots of ...

  • Best city in Florida
    By ChristopherM, 09/14/08
After living in the city for a few years, and then in Tampa, I realized how much this city has to offer.

The beaches are a great time, with good fishing, swimming and a good shoreline compared to many major east coast US beaches, save the Miami area.

There is a great nearby historic area (St Augustine), as well as convenient access for an easy ...

  • The west coast town in the east
    By Lisa, 05/09/08
Jacksonville is different from other Florida cities in that it is a TRUE fishing town. I would describe Jacksonville as a cross between Atlanta (unique furturistic buildings) and Seattle (fishing boats and large coffee industry) Most of Florida cities don't have a downtown area, or it's all the old fashioned neon look and lots of urban ...

    By A Yahoo! User, 01/20/08
THE TRUTH IS, JACKSONVILLE IS A VERY LARGE CITY THAT HAS A WORLD OF POTENTIAL, BUT IS NOT UP TO PAR. THE CRIME IN THE CITY IS UNREAL. FEW PARTS OF THE CITY BOWST A SAFE ZONE WITH THE EXEPTION OF THE BEACH OR PONTE VEDRA WICH IS NOT JACKSONVILLE OWNED OR RUN. FOOD CAN BE GOOD WITH THE BEST RESTURANTS IN THE ORTEGA AND RIVESIDE DISTRICT, AND BEACHES ...

  • Stay away
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/07
I don't think there could possibly be a place more devoid of culture than Jax, FL. This place makes Pittsburgh look like Paris. I went to Jax to skate Kona, thought I'd go in town for lunch. Nothing was open because it was Saturday. That's right, I asked someone what time the Subway opens. They said it doesn't open on Saturday. I ...
