We went for a day in early August and didn't want to leave. The weather was perfect. We swam, sunbathed, and just had a great time. It was not crowded at all. Food is readily available on the beach which was very convenient. I would love to live at the beach. If you park on the beach and unfortunately get stuck, everyone there is more than happy to help each other. This place has such a laid back atmosphere. Perfect.....

I have gone to Daytona twice--once on the way to Miami and on the way back. Beyond the hotel and the speedway(I am not into racing) there was very little to do.
I have to say I was somewhat disappointed in the beach. It looked like something out of a 1970's horror movie.
If you want to see beaches, you need to drive further north to Ormand-by-the-Sea

We happenend on a really cool sandwich shop in downtown Daytona Beach on our recent trip. They have Elvis pictures everywhere, play Elvis music on the stereo and serve the best hot dog with homemade chili on a New England style bun. My mom,sister and I went there two summers ago, and i absolutely loved it.
The best attraction I went to was the mini-golf with the alive alligators in the front.
It had ths jungle Jarrassic Park theme.
with a sirplane like you know you were actually in te airplane then crashed then forced to play min-golf right there.
