We stayed for the night on our way from New Jersey to Boston. All i have to say is sketchy. Looks like it could be a nice city , but would have to remove all the people that live there now and start over. A little scary and random. Hilton was nice got it for $40 a night on priceline so couldnt complain about that.

Dead City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/08
Hartford is an unfortunately dead city that's just in limbo waiting for its corrupt politicians to finish fleecing it for its last dollar before finally giving up the ghost.
It's a formerly great city -- you can feel that much as you drive around it -- that has no real hope of recovery.
Avoid staying in Hartford at all costs. There ...

Great City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/07
This city has stuff to do, but is quiet like a small town. It is poor and unknown, thus having no tourist traps. Here you will find enough to do for a vacation or a lifetime. This is a major city for Puerto Ricans and West Indians (having some of the highest concentrations of both in the United States). You will find poverty, crime but also culture, and more undiscovered gems than you could ever imagine.

Don't bother..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/06
Honestly, my impression of this place is not great. For a city of such regional importance, it is a bore. Many people in CT have no reason to venture out here other to catch a concert or maybe a theatre production. But it really doesn't offer much in the way of culture or nightlife. The city promotes itself relentlessly as an up-and-coming ...

Loved the Athemeum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/24/06
The Athemeum is great and the tour of Mark Twains' house was interesting, but aside form that there is nothing to see in Hartford. It is as if they have systematically tried to tear down almost everything that was old. It is the most un-New England city in New England, bland, characterless. Head to Boston or even Providence if you are looking for New England flavor.

City on the rise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/06
I visit Hartford about 10 times a year and I must admit the city is finally turing around. 10 years ago everything was boarded up and there were literally 10 or 15 restuarants in the downtown area. Today downtown Hartford almost has a NYC feel to it (save the pedestrians) with it's modern office towers and dozens of great restuarants. The ...

More than you think
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
The traffic was terrible, but it was nice to drive through. This thing doesn't give Hartford enough credit as a town. The setting is very nice, right in the midst of the Appalachian moutains. You can see the town laid out throughout, hidden amongst the trees.
A rising star in Hartford’s nightlife is Club Bar Celona with no question. A jewel in the southern part of downtown Hartford, Bar Celona captures an extraordinary blend of New York City’s class with Miami’s energetic sounds. Along with its assortments of events, menu and music, there is no way you won’t return to this club.
Inside, there are ...

Connecticut Identity
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/05
The best thing About Hartford is the intimacy of the city. Small but large enough to rival other larger cosmopolitan cities. There are many areas of the city that feel like old New England, while other areas have a New York City feel. The Wadsworth Athenium is worth a visit from anywhere in the world. One of the finest art museums in the world ...
As a Hartford.CT native I am biased to this city. Honestly though, Hartford has gone under many renovations to become "New England's Rising Star". Hartford is accessible via any mode of transportation and accomdations are pretty decent. The city had just built a convention center and high-rise Downtown Marriot. Plans are under way from ...
