I live in Central NY and my best friend lives in Vail, CO so I go as often as I can, usually twice a year. I don't downhill ski due to an injury from many years ago, but I do Nordic ski. The Vail Nordic Center is also the Vail Golf Course and was designed specifically for golf and Nordic sports. It is pristinely groomed, has an awesome view ...
Vail is by far the best ski resort in this country. To all the people who say it is to pricey stay in a cheaper hotel, or in neighboring city of avon. Get to the lift lines early and head to the back bowls to avoid long lift lines. The best skiing is in the china bowl or blue sky basin after a snow fall. There are more runs to ski than time to ...

Perfect Ski Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/06
Overall, Vail is the best ski town hands down. Why? Simply because it offers the most comprehensive ski experience--a wonderful town, great snow, fantastic terrain, easy access, etc. I've skied throughout the US and Europe, but I consider Vail, hands down, the best!
To get a feel for the range of ski towns in CO one need only to travel to Vail and Aspen. The two towns are as different as can be,like night and day. Vail is patterened after alpine ski resorts in Euroland, all pristene and proper, modern and costly.A large clock tower looms in center square. With the surroundings as quaint and as similar to the ...

The Best Resort in the U.S.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/05
Vail is HUGE. It's backbowls have the best powder in the world. Lift lines can get a little long in the morining, I would get to the lift at 8:20 with lift ticket already purchased and be first in line for the lifts. Then you can move out to the bowls and ski for hours without having more then a 5 minute wait. Town: 5 Mountain:5 Overall: 5

Beautiful City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/05
A beautiful little town. A little pricey. The people are so friendly and nice. The food was good. We enjoyed all the shops. One of the cleanest places ,inside and out, in Colorado
You can get name-brand coffee (Starbucks) anywhere, even in the little village gift shop places in the Vail ski resort. But I prefer the owner-operated coffee shop in the transportation center. It's called The Secret Stash, and I don't know where the "secret" comes from, because all of the native Italians and le French go there ...
If you love the mountains and the atmosphere of a small town Vail, CO is a must. Yes the town is expensive, but one can see why when you get there. Heated sidewaslks aside....The skiing is the best in the US and don't be starstruck if you see some famous folks walking around.
What a special special place the resturants can be very elegent but for the most it is casual the prices can be alittle high they have good summer deals at the hotels but not during the winter the sky lefts are pretty pricie! have fun!
