We visited Salida for the June FIBArk whitewater festival. It was great, lots of activities, all around the downtown area. The festical is mostly about whitewater rafting and kayaking. Several types of competitions, that made for great shoreside watching. Including the kayak rodeo demostrations and comepetitions.

What a beautiful little town. There is a small mountain, country folk call it the "S" mountain. This is so cool. At night when all the stars are out, it lights up. First you see a "S" then you see a heart. Salida is surrounded by all mountains of the Rockies. It is the heart of the Rockies. FibArk is a blast to go to see, they race in boats down the Arkansas.
