  • nice casino
    By William, 10/30/07
People in the area really keep the area up. The new casino is very nice a couple miles away. I liked the old casino better the machines paid better but at least there is poker.

Solvang is still a very nice spot, you can see ostrichs, mini horses, lavender farm, fudge making, good thrift shops, and walk everywhere.

    Svendgaurd won't do you ...

  • Going back again!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/07
We enjoy going to this little Danish town in California every time we go. The best part to me is it is only 2-3 hours from where we live but you feel like you are really somewhere different. We often split the day between Santa Barbara and Solvang or spend the night and do a day for each and see a little of both towns as they are so close to each other. Very friendly people which is a big plus.

  • Quaint! Unique! Beautiful part of the state!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/06
Solvang is wonderful! It's a 'must-see'! My family makes it a point to go visit at least once a year. Ingeborg's, on Copenhagen, has the best homemade chocolate anywhere! One must visit and take some chocolate home! The Solvang Bakery, on Alisal, has the best danish and breads in town. Drive a little to the west down Alisal Rd. and ...

  • It's little Denmark
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/06
I found Solvang to be very fun to visit. Plenty of Scandanavian themed shops to see. There are windmills, Danish flags everywhere, and plenty more. They even have other Scandanavian things to see, like Swedish and Finish.

The one thing I was curious about is that one store selling general toys doesn't have Legos, which were created in Denmark. In fact, the name "Lego" comes from the Danish for "play well".

  • Did not like
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/06
The reviews online that appeared on this hotel did not hold true when we arrived and stayed at the hotel. My husband and I will return to Solvang but will not stay at this hotel.

The headboard on the bed was not bolted to the bed frame. The refrigerator was just placed on the floor, not on a table. The window was broken and could have ...

  • Don't miss out on all the wonderful shopping
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/20/06
While stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base,
Solvang was always the place to bring family
and friends, the people are friendly, theyhave
alot of stores that items are made right in
front of you, especially the candle shop,
    what an awesome experience.

I recommend to all people traveling in the Santa Barbara area, stop by have lunch,
shop and enjoy some good food and fun with the local artists.

  • Denmark's uniqueness
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/06
I live in Los Angeles, its only a 2-3 hour drive but believe me, it will be well worth it. Its close to the beach the food is unique, the people are nice, also go there near chritmas, they have special treats! But if you finish visiting Solvang, you should check out the nearby attractions, like Morro Bay which is a beautiful seaside paridise.

I grew up visiting Solvang...yet, it still amazes me how much I love the kick back atmosphere and friendly people there.

Walking around at night, just a couple hours from my house...it's perfect!

  • Surprisingly tacky, but worth a visit
    By Fiona, 12/27/05
Solvang is like a Disneyland of sorts with no rides. Not a lot to actually do in the town, but still worth a drive/walk through to see what this crazy town is all about. Best would be to explore the area surrounding - beautiful drives, hills, wineries and leave an hour or two to expore the town.
