My girlfriend and I visit solvang at least once a year. We like to go to clubs and party alot but solvang is a good change once in a while. It's quiet and it just puts you in a chill relaxing mood. There's plenty of food to choose from and especially good ice cream. We usually just have some breakfast, relax for a bit, then go wine tasting ...

DON'T spend a night there!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/09
This is a tourist trap town. There's really nothing much to see or do around Solvang, only a few blocks of Danish looking stores and restuarants. You only need an hour in that town. No need to buy or eat there. First, we checked into the Svandgaards Lodge with an unfriendly staff. Then we walked around the blocks. Things in the store were ...

Don't waist your time

Solvang is just another cheap tourist trap. It reminded me of Tijuana, nothing but cheap gifts and overpriced average food joints. My Family and freinds told me I would need to get a hotel and spend two days to see everything, I was ready to go home after an hour. BORING!

Disappointed after many years of loving it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/08
For over twenty years, Solvang was one of our favorite destinations (twice a year when we lived in the LA area and every other year after we moved to Northern California). You could find unique, high quality items in many of the stores, and it took the better party of a day to browse the shops and have a meal or two. The last several times we went, ...
I was in Solvang a week ago, and did enjoy the shopping: especially in one specific art gallery. And on the whole, I was pleased to find that most shops had some really quality merchandise . . . not just touristy junk. However, shopping is really all there is to do there, other than eating. By 5:30 p.m., the streets roll up and there isn't ...
My best friend and I were there a few years ago. We took a three week RV tour out west, when gas was cheaper, remember that? Food was great but the visitors center empolyee was very unfriendly. We ask for parking the Rv and were promply told RV "types" were not really welcome in the city and several stores would not take the time to wait ...

Quaint & Quiet

My girlfriend and I spent the better part of a week in Solvang last summer and had a great time. Most people will not need a week to see all of Solvang -- in fact, most people will not need more than half a day to see it. We were looking for a place to relax, and this quaint little town fit perfectly. Hotels range from very inexpensive to ...

Solvang--a little slice of Danish heaven!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/08
Solvang is a delightful community founded by Danish immigrants in the early 1900s, and has developed into a unique tourist destination. Just two hours from Los Angeles, Solvang is a little European escape, where the traditional Danish architecture and cuisine set it apart from other weekend destinations.
Don’t go to Cabernet Bistro! The food, especially the duck,is delicious, but they sneak in a 25% undeserved tip! The service is very slow, and one of the staff was extremely rude too. We wouldn’t have minded such a generous tip if perhaps there was a group – but this was for just my husband and I – and they didn’t ...
