This is my favorite California town. A beautiful walking downtown with the energy and youth of a college town (Cal Poly is located here) Only a ten minute drive to the beach. Wonderful, friendly people with a great laidback attitude, kind of like they have discovered a great secret. Wonderful restaurants, pubs, movie theaters and coffeehouses right downtown. A fantastic mix of surfers, college students, professionals and aging hippies.

We loved the Thursday night farmer's market with the entertainment and the bbq's and all the booths. We ate at market and loved it. There is lots of shopping and things to do. We visited the beach and shopped til we dropped. We will be planning a return visit soon!
Your trip is good reading. I've managed to enjoy traveling through San Luis Obispo for much smaller change.
The low priced Econo Inn was fun to make a reservation with. I spoke with an India-American woman, and used several effective slang ennuciations, and she seemed to be amused with some exposure to hip english. I called again the next ...
I moved here. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I love the laid-back atmosphere. Everyone is not in such a hurry to get somewhere where they just have to wait for whatever they were getting there for. Here in SLO everything is on a much slo-wer pace. So easy to get everywhere, Pismo Beach, Cayucos, Morro Bay, San Simeon, and you ...

cute beach town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/06
i've lived in california all my life, but i had never visited slo until last december. it was a charming coastal town, roughly the size of santa barbara, with a similar main street area. the people were extremely friendly and the weather was mild, even in the middle of winter. there are many outdoor activities available in the surrounding area. very charming spot to visit for the weekend.
I have had several enjoyable trips to SLO. Living about 2 hours north (Salinas), if I leave early enough it can be a day trip but staying overnight allows me to do more. The downtown is very lively and clean with interesting shops, a 2 level Barnes and Noble book store, good restaurants, and friendly people. A lady friend of mine visited and we ...

There's lots to do here and if you live in the Bay Area it's a great weekend getaway. Take Hwy 1 down to SLO. In summer this is the best drive. SLO has some really quaint stores downtown and one really great record store. They stock a lot of vinyl at cheap prices. You can also get in some good hiking around SLO.

SLO is so cool. You will LOVE it instantly. It is a old time California town, with lots of charm and friendly locals, like myself. Places to definetly go & see are the Madonna Inn, Firestone Grill, and park your car in the parking garage while you walk around downtown. The city's downtown is very clean, friendly, & safe. You will feel ...
The Inn at Avila Beach has unique rooms, all with different amenities. Personally I prefer the spa rooms with the fireplace; 301, 313, or 213, very intimate & romantic! The staff is friendly and helpful. Free movie rentals, tea, coffee, popcorn and internet. The ocean is literally less than 500 feet across the street, and the view from the sun ...
