The only way to enjoy Oxnard is to rent a beach house on "The Strand" or "Hollywood Beach". More expensive than a hotel, but the hotels in town are not very nice and not close to the beach.
The weather is cooler than the LA area, the people nicer, and atmosphere more relaxed.
Don't expect much from the local deepsea ...

this is the number one place to live in you cant ask for more that this.
