We recently visited family in Escondido, CA and we loved it. The weather was great and we liked how close it was to The Wild Animal Park. It's also not that far from the beach, mountains, or deserts. We cannot wait to come back!

This should be called San Diego...how many pics of Escondido are here? I have lived in Escondido for 25 years and it has drastically gone down hill.

Good place to retire, bad place to vacation.

Many retire here from all over. Good medical, restaurants, beach access, mountain access, and transportation.

Within 100 miles of 11,000 ft. mountains and under sea level desert. Close to Mexico and Los Angeles. 5 hours by car to Vegas.

I was raised in Escondido and always loved it. I moved to Alabama with my husband after World war two was over. I haved longed to go back all these years but raising a family(6) children always was more important. I love it there because the people were always so friendly and the scenery is so beautiful, the climate is wonderful and I satill hope to go back some day

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is the main attraction very near Escondido, just 5 miles. Otherwise, there are hiking trails and Dixon Lake and Lake Hodges. Pretty fair.

Ok..I live in Escondido, Ca. and have lived here for almost 10 years. I am also a San Diego native. One of the reviews above looks like they confused Escondido, California with Escondido, Mexico...VASTLY different places and believe me, our restaurants, IN Escondido, California are clean and most are superb. You have Escondido as your destination and your slideshow shows only pictures of San Diego and La Jolla. Very misleading. Escondido is about 45min to 1/12 hr from San Diego depending on I15, the traffic is terrible. Escondido is very hot in the summer, no cool ocean breezes there! I live about 5 miles from the beach and and Escondido is about 15 ...

HAD A GREAT TIME,MY FRIENDS AND I SPENT TWO DAYS WHILE TRAVELING THRU MEXICO. WHAT I REMEMBER MOST WAS THE FRIENDLY PEOPLE AND THE MANY RESTURANTS AND BARS. MOST WERE VERY CLEAN AND THE FOOD GREAT.
