If you are in the central coast area of California, be sure not to miss Carmel. This little city has something for everyone. If you drive south on HWY 1 from Carmel you will see some excellent places to enjoy the scenery, take pictures, and possibly spend an entire day on your own beach. Beautiful scenery combined with abundant wildlife make this one of the most beautiful places to visit in central California. Big Sur state park is wonderful, as well as Point Lobos, the Monterey Aquarium, and Carmel-by-the Sea. Seventeen Mile drive is another must-see.

Relaxing and wonderful time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/05
We went to Carmel for the 4th of July and I loved it!! We were in monetary for a while looking at the aquarium but in Carmel we went to the mission and saw beautiful art work. The food is great. The people are friendly, kind, and helpful. I can’t wait until we can go again.
I love how clean it is and how safe you feel walking around there. The only thing I don't like is that the town shuts down pretty early; but you can always drive over to Montergey, which is close by, and catch a movie.

Stopped overnight in Carmel on our way from Santa Barbara to Yosemite. It is a quaint little town - a little pricey. We stayed at the Best Western Bay View Inn which I would recommend highly - very romantic and comfortable accomodations. If you do nothing else while you are there be sure to take the 17 mile scenic drive - well worth the time.
