I've had the pleasure and fortune of traveling all over the world thanks to my line of work. I can honestly say, however, that there is no other place I enjoy revisiting as much as this part of California. Call me nuts, but this is truly the most gorgeous group of towns/cities (Big Sur, Monterey, etc.) that California has to offer!!!
Big Sur simply ranks up there with the Swiss Alps and Great Barrier Reef as one of the few truly beautiful places on earth. The coastal road winds along high bluffs overlooking the ocean and then winds down through redwood groves. The days are warm, the sunsets are on fire against cool ocean breezes as you look out from your hot tub. Check out ...

Hearst Castle - a must see
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/06
I absolutely love visiting Hearst Castle! I recommend any of the tours they offer without hesitation. It is a rare opportunity to experience a place like this...unbelieveable views, an extraordinary story of how the art, architecture and gardens all came together over a 3 decade period through a unique collaboration between builder and architect.
Hearst Castle, DON'T MISS IT!

The drive up the coast is a great local get away. Not too far yet it feels like a drive down the English coast with its rocky cliff shore lines. You can stop along the way at Ragged Point for lunch and a hike down to the beach. The trail down is a little difficult and hard on the way up. Then you can drive further down the coast and stop at the ...
Finding a place in the bay area is never difficult. All you have to do is just go. But if you want to have a value added weekend it's always smart to plan it.
Check the local weather for temperature and keep radio handy. Be prepared for road conditions and plan alternate routes. With so many climate changes you should be on the look out. ...
Big Sur is beautiful, with its jagged cliffs and untouched beaches - not to mention the waterfall and hidden hiking trails. The first time I drove through it, I wasn't expecting such a breathtaking sight; I had to pull over to take it all in. Being up above the water and on that windy road with the picturesque bridge feels like you're in ...

We will never, ever stay at Ripplewood, again..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/06
This place, which recently changed ownership was awful. Rooms, although tidy was freezing at night with only a paper thin blanket to keep you warm. you could hear rats in the walls all night long. The food at the restuarant was passable. The store prices were outrageous which seemed to go hand in hand with the $4.00 a gallon gas. The staff was very ...
Big Sur is one of the most beautiful, natural places to visit in the world. Our family camps at the Big Sur campgrounds every summer. The weather is perfect, the scenery is magnificent, and the total "with nature" experience is awesome. This campsite is very comfortable, with great hot, clean showers. It is right along the Big Sur River, ...
