A Great Rustic Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/06
We camped at Talkeetna RV and Boat Launch. We found the naturalness and privacy of the park restful and refreshing, and the staff helpful and considerate. There were plenty of things available like, firewood, showers, fishing tackle and even a shortcut trail to walk downtown. We will camp there again as often as possible. Although there were no hook-ups available at the time, it was still a very nice place to stay.

Great Lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/15/06
The Lodge, although expensive was a delightful place. Very pleasing to the eye, huge fireplace and very layed back atmosphere. Talkeetna was a small town with a great walking tour of historic buildings and houses. Looking forward to going back, maybe to live.... Loved the place.......

Wonderful views of Mt.McKinley
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/05
Loved sitting on the back deck of the Lodge to view Mt.McKinley, it was such a beautiful sight. The rooms were nicely kept, but if it is warm, as it was when we were there, no airconditioning units, only fans in the room, but portable fans only. The food at the lodge was very nice, had breakfast there. The staff are a little slow, but the view from the windows in the dining room, when it is in view, is incredible.

fun place, but stay away from R.V.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/05
The town of talkeetna is a must see in Alaska. We always bring visiting friends and family here. There is a little store on the right, at the end of Main St. that sells great chocolates. This is also a great place to just get away for the day and have lunch. If you are traveling by R.V. try and stay away from the Talkeetna R.V.Camp and Boat luanch. The lady who runs the front office is very curt and rude.
It is definetely worth driving to Talkeetna on the way to or back from Denali. It is only 15 mile each way off the main road. Nice relaxing town to spend a couple of hours or so. Lots to do for an overnight stay.
Most vacationers drive by Talkeetna on their way to Denali. If you want to spend a day or two to break up the trip and get some great fishing in, this is the place. The plane tour of Denali, while expensive, is well worth it. It was the highlight of our Alaska vacation. Make sure to book a trip fishing -- Ask the guide to hike you back away from ...
