My husband and I booked our rooms on a Wednesday and we were staying there that following weekend. I was told on the phone that our room would be a Crest View room and that we might be able to check in early if our room was available. We arrived in Blackwater Falls on Saturday. Around 3pm I called the "resort" to see if our room would ...
What is there not to like .It is buitifull place . The deer come right up to your room if you r in the back lower door level.I have photo's of each of my children feeding and nose to nose with deer. the in door pool is always a great idea after skiing with children . true it is on the small side but if you go during the week you'll be fine ...
it sucked. the cabin was sssssooooooooo messy and bark was peling off. I never want to go back. don't go there. it didnt look as good as it did in the visitors guide.
The lodging was good for what we needed. Although the food was good, the restaraunt was highly overpriced. The pizza was good. As far as friendly staff, it is 70/30. The check-in desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The pro shop and drink cart attendents were polite. Now since this was a family golf trip for us, we did not think that playing ...
We stayed here last weekend. It was simply okay. Definitely reinforced the old adage, "You get what you pay for." We chose Canaan Valley Resort because it was one of the least expensive options compared to other resorts in the PA/WV/MD/VA area and we just wanted a cheap weekend away. So while we expected something a little less nice than ...

Great outdoor vacation resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/06
This resort was really nicer than I expected. We visited 15-16 July 2006.
Activities= Though it was raining when we go there, the resort staff advised us on activites we could do until it stopped raining. We arrived late morning and still had time to take advantage of the adventure pass of which we participated in rockwall climb, eurobungy, ...

Canaan Valley is a State Park. If you're expecting the Hilton, go stay at the Hilton.
We found the lodge rooms to be clean and well maintained. The restaurant and snack bar offered great food as very reasonable prices. All of the activities listed seemed to be there and as represented.
I took my kids across the road to the Ski Area ...

Not what their website advertises
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/06
Do not be fooled by Canaan valley website!! The resort is old and yucky. The crib we were given for our 6 month old was rusty and banged up. The sheets they gave us had holes in them. The amenities--golf course, swimming pool, game room, paint ball course--were all short of our expectations. Most of them were tiny and only just enough to allow the hotel to claim that it had them. We would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.
