among other places we visited in hongkong, i really, really liked this big buddha..it seems so peaceful there..very nice place especially if you go there by cable car(ngong ping 360)there are 268 steps up to the top but its worth the trip..i hope i can go back there in some other time..also many shops there for souvenirs..very clean..

Going to this place was a bit tedious, but it was a good look into the past at the history of Hong Kong. It is also a good place to go if you are religious.

Big Buddha
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/07
It was nice, but there were so many steps which ruined it slightly. The atmosphere was fantastic, the view was great and it was just a really enjoyable feature of Hong Kong.
The day I went was at the end of a typhoon. It rained like mad and the trip up/thru the mountains was a little nerve-racking. I saw the whole Buddha for a brief instance then it was engolfed by clouds. I climbed the steps and it was so cool how the wind in the clouds wipped by as we stood and walked around the outside. This inside was cool. At the ...

Great!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/06
Great experience. Take the MTR and Ngong Ping 360 skyrail instead of the ferry/bus. Great views of Tung Chung and airport. Don't waste time in the village. Go straight to the Buddha - you can stop in the village on the way back for a bite to eat or something. You MUST climb the steps. Views from back side of Buddha are beautiful!! Well worth the trip!
it definitly is worth the journey to the big Buddha .The new cable car ride is great. It gives u a birds eye view of the area . On bright day the new airport is great especially when u are aware that quite a bit of it is reclaimed land If planning on buying a memento it would be advisable to buy if from the shop right on the foot steps of the Big Buddha .
pay that little extra, the fery was a good one except the ferry shop selling pot noodles were a little poor. Motion sickness......help. Strawberry milkshake as soon as i got off the ferry at McDonalds... super. Excellent bus ride. If you pay to go up to the buddah, people dont realise it but you actually pay for a free lunch too at the monks ...

Huge Buddha, Great Views
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/29/05
The Big Buddha was one of the most amazing things I saw in Hong Kong. After the lengthy MTR ride to Lantau Island, you need to take a bus to the Buddha, a trip that lasts about 45 minutes, but provides an exciting bus ride through steep mountains! The Buddha itself is impressive, sitting on top of a peak with access via a (very) long stair case. ...
