The main star ferry rides go from Central or Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui. Fares are extraordinarily cheap, and is the cheapest way to get across the harbour.
What you get is a short (long relative to the other methods) ride across the harbour, with plenty of photo opportunities. Gets you right in with the local life as well as the old days, when ...

Best experience of my life

words can't quite express how i felt when i was at Star Ferry. Awe, excited, transferred to another world ???
as soon as i arrived at hk, i went to star ferry. As i watched the sea surface & the buildings on the Central side, i was stunned. It's like being transferred to another world.
I still often think about star ferry, when i can go back there.
hk is a must visit city & star ferry is a must see place.

It's a very relaxing atmosphere to hear the waves. lots of people. don't eat around there though...big rip-offs at every corner. And the ships are nose-to-nose with you....very nice.

The best tourist attraction
By John Goodwin, 09/15/07
The guide books list the Peak Tram as the best tourist attraction. They lie, because this is just statistical nonsense; tourists buy virtually all the tickets - except the commuter season tickets!
The Star Ferry is dirt cheap, and the number of tourists using it is unkown, because everyone buys the same sort of ticket. You get spectacular ...

This is a wonderful ride from one side of Hong Kong to the other. Very inexpensive. Great views of the city. Bring your camera.
A must to do when visiting HK, ride the ferry during the day and ride it during a cool breezy night. Best of all, share it with your love ones.

Nice cheap ride where you can take a rest & relax while traveling to you next destination in Hong Kong. The harbor takes on a different feel while traveling on the ferry and you feel like you belong a little bit...It's nothing fancy but has a real local feel.

You gotta love it
By mauryakeating, 01/11/07
I was in Hong Kong for two days on business. I clawed out one free hour, and spent in on the Star Ferry. I felt at peace with myself and why I came to China. Didn't do much on the Kowloon side - bought some pieces of jade souvenirs and David Beckham choccies - but I didn't have to do much, because the trip itself was worth it.

A definite !!

I took the star ferry once and it was cool. I took it during the day, but it would have been cooler at night.
To go to Hongkong and not go on the star ferry is like going to New York and opting not to see the Statue of liberty.
