Best kept secret in Ecuador! 5 starsWe loved San Jorge, from the moment we were collected from Quito in the evening, it was a wonderful experience. Cheryl was a super resource prior to our arrival. Having never travelled in Ecuador, we had plenty of pre-arrival questions and she patiently answered them all. A Very Memorable ExperienceWe found you listed in the Frommers Travel Guide. Downtown Quito was very interesting. We loved San Jorge de Milpe Orchid & Bird Reserve, and our guide Milton, who also took us to Mindo Butterflies which was a real treat. And the Equator museum! San Jorge is a great way to Experience EcuadorMy friend and I spent days on end, in December 2007, with George as our guide, and were continually amazed by his knowledge, enthusiasm and uncanny ability to see birds even when they were hidden in dense foliage. San Jorge Exceeded our ExpectationsThe fifteen days ( Oct. 17 - Oct. 31, 2007) were really filled with "magic" as we noted 325 species in that time. Our guides were excellent. Young Jorge and the senior Jorge were exceptional guides for the two of us who are partially deaf. San Jorge is phenominalI visited San Jorge with a group through Holbrook travel. Our group visited San Jorge de Tandayapa Hummingbird Reserve to do the trail maintenance and to hike. This property sits on a hill in the cloud forest and is quite breathtaking.

Wonderful Cultural Emphasis and AccomodationsWe visited all western San Jorge Reserves and lodges. Quito, Tandayapa and Milpe.
Wonderful cultural emphasis. Great collaborations ( bricks, school house, horse rentals)

Magical HosteriaMy stay at Hosteria San Jorge was full of adventures. There was never a moment when I did not know what to do. On the Hiking and Birding Circuit offered by the hosteria, I saw many things. I visited the San Jorge lodge in the Rainforests of Mindo and did some of the best birding of my life here. Beautiful EcuadorI loved my stay at the San Jorge Eco Lodge. The rooms are beautiful, although slightly rustic in a good way. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was plentiful and well prepared. Most importantly, I received a tremendous amount of personal attention from the owner in order to make sure that my stay was enjoyable.
