We were in town for a church convention 1-11-08 through 1-13-08. This place was located near the convention center & is a large hotel so I thought it would be decent. I was wrong the first room I was put in was 162 court side & it was so bad I would not allow my kid to go inside the room I called back to the front desk & said No Way! ...

It was not close to anything. The bathrooms were very small. The court side rooms is not on the river. They are across the road. I was very disappointed in the location and in the room itself.

The staff were great, the location was good. But the hotel is old, stuffy, rusty baseboards.The beds were too hard and no internet access, we were supposed to stay a whole week but oppted to move to thier little cabin. that was better but not the best. Sydney James is a Wonderful place to stay. We enjoy staying on the creek side. My husband and I have been coming there about 15 years on our anniversary and are very much looking forward to this october.

If you lived in a cardboard box on lower Wacker Drive in Chicago, the Sidney James would be worse than that! I have never, ever seen such an incredibly run-down, filthy, outdated, bug infested place in all my travels. We had booked a stay there for our first vacation in 4 years based on the false advertising on their website. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!

is being nice. we reserved a room based on the pictures from the internet and this place looks nothing like them. its a dump. we were so disgusted with the place we opted to eat the cost of the first night and got a refund from the 2nd night we had booked and got a room at the bearskin lodge which is a fantastic place to stay for less money then the awlful sidney james dump lodge.
