Several guidebooks mentioned the Pickwick Arms as a great budget hotel, so we decided to give it a try. We ended up being sorely disappointed. First of all, we had to wait to be checked in because the staff were busy dealing with an unsavory character who apparently walked in off the street and was being very belligerent. That gave us an uneasy ...

The Worst Experience Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 06/24/08
Me and my husband arrived in the NYC expecting great service and most importantly a bigger bed and room. Fist off we booked for a queen bed and they gave us a DOUBLE BED! I haven't seen a double since I was like 9 years old. You mean to tell me that a Husband and Wife are supposed to sleep in seperate beds? Not only was the service horriable ...

Too much noise
By Salvation, 02/07/07
I could hear doors slamming in the hallway, TVs and voices in other rooms. The double-bed room was very small, approximately 8x12 ft, plus a small toilet area & shower.

VERY small, but good location
By traci1138, 06/09/05
Be prepared for TINY quarters. Booked a double bed and got 2 singles shoved together in a room no bigger than the bed. Small sink behind the door and closet not big enough for our luggage. Sheets had not been changed. Could touch the walls with arms outstretched. Went for cheap and that's what we got. Location is excellent though is you're ...

Its' not a hotel. Rather a hostel.
By riverblog, 10/02/06
Given the good price and the central location, the rooms are awful. I've never seen such a small room: there was barely space for the bed and when sitting on the toilet you couldn't comfortably place your feet. The service is poor and the staff was not professional at all.

Great Modern Dorm Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/29/07
Efficient Rooms - small but work really well. Think of a modern dorm room and a cost effective NYC price. If you are looking for a roomie and gracious hotel room - not your scene at The Pod. The location is beyond wonderful and quiet street in Midtown. The truly HUGE downfall is the standoffish and very unhelpful staff. It has not been an ...

By TINA T, 10/27/06

YOU CAN ACTUALLY WALK TO CENTRAL PARK, THE THEATER DISTRICT, SHOPPING ON FIFTH AVE, THERES A NAIL SALON RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. THE BEDS WERE CLEAN, EUROPEAN STYLE ROOM. BUT GOOD ENOUGH IF DONT PLAN ON STAYING IN YOUR ROOM. THE STAFF ...

What a Deal!!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/13/04
I was in Manhattan for 4 days and I got the deal of a lifetime. The hotel was more than I expected, what a deal. I got a clean and tidy room with all I needed for the little time I spent in the room, after all I did not go to New York to sleep. Hotel is easy to get to and lots of action all around it, and 5 minutes from 5th Ave on the bus. I will ...

By A Yahoo! Contributer, 11/26/07
If you're like me, you wait till the last minute. I must say it is for a young crowd only. Im a college student and everytime I fly up to NY, I stay there because the location is impecable. You are literally walking distance from Rockafellar Plaza, Time Square, 5th Avenue, etc. I am a fan of their prices and location. But think Dorm'. Thin ...

Small - But Good
By George B, 07/31/08
The web site pulls no punches on the room size / SMALL. I was in town over the weekend with out my family so I did not need the room or frills. I opted for the smallest POD (apptly named) without bath or toilet in the room. The room was small, but hay it is NYC you should not be in your room and at 139 a night for this location you can't go ...
