I was disappointed that the pool wasn't going and they were doing some remodeling. It was a beautiful view from our room, the price was great and the room was nice I was quite satisfied!!!

Interesting hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/04/05
The service was okay. The valet parking was crowded and slow, however, the valet guy that helped us was very helpful so we kept going back to him. The room was average. Our room was above the railroad tracks. The train passed by every hour on the hour. At least everything looked clean inside the hotel.

Smoky noise!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/05
The worst thing about Golden Phoenix was the show Perfect 10. Bad musical review and the 'adult' version wasn't adult.

OK with being snowed in!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/05
We got to Reno New Years Eve night. We were shocked to see that there was about three feet of snow on the ground and more flakes steadily falling. It made us a little nervous about being there. Just as we were shivering in the 29 degree cold. A very warm Golden Phoenix shuttle arrived and whisked us to the hotel. We were greeted by a very friendly ...

Cheap price or a decent hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/05
The hotel was ok. It was clean and was a ok place to sleep. It is very close to Virginia street so the location is good.

Sleeping on the street is SLIGHTLY worse than staying here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/04
Fleabag hotel ,but with more rooms! Might as well have had the windows wide open..if your below the 12th floor.. bring earplugs!!Food at Aces Diner was akin to hospital food and airline food would be preferable to this. The only good thing about the Golden Phoenix is that it is in close proximity to the decent hotels nearby. Whoever runs this property should be ashamed of themselves.Customer service is unfamiliar at this cheap excuse for a hotel.

It was alright...but watch the phone charges!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/04
Hotel/casino was fine...too near the train tracks for my liking - very noisy!!! But my God don't use the phone there!!!!! They charge a MINIMUM $1 for LOCAL calls ($1 hookup, then a certain amount per minute), and their long distance charges are ungodly!!! I made two long distance calls of 5 and 20 minutes...they were both over $25 (they ...

O.k. for the dough, not spectacular
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/04
Other than a total scew-up over my Priceline package (hotel insisted on re-charging for my 2 nighht stay on check-out even though Priceline had already charged for the room a month ago...refund is being processed.)it was:
O.k. for the money. I would say about average. It's an older property and it reminds you that you are in an older, ...
