Better than we expected!It was nice to walk into a casino/hotel lobby and not be overcome by cigarette smoke. The Summit had great accomodations and far exceeded our expectations. We went for a romantic getaway and will go back with the kids for a family weekend soon. This place has EVERYTHING (except a tub, that was a bumber). Definately recommend!3 of 3 Yahoo! Old tired place, with misleading web siteExcept for the Summit, which is a few floors of renovated rooms, the rest of the hotel is tired, worn out, and dirty. The casino is dark and old fashioned. The "deal" our group got ($99) was no deal.
1) Went through two rooms before I checked into one that was barely acceptable in terms of cleanliness and cigarette smoke.

Setember 2008I had no problem with this facility. The room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. This wasn't the nicest room I've stayed in but it was fine. The conference rooms were accomodating, the restaurants were good (generous portions) and overal my stay was pleasant. BIG difference between the GSR and Summit.If you stay at the GSR, stay in the Summit section (17th floor and above) spend the extra money and get a room 10 times better. It's worth it if you want a nice room like the $300 to $500 ones in Vegas. I prefer to be away from the strip if possible... WARNING! DEFINITELY NOT MORE THAN 1 STARWas told 3-4 Stars. Upon arrival we were forced to upgrade after looking at the room they originally assigned...filthy, smelly, not to mention the used condom on the floor outside the elevator. Hot August NightmareThe idiots at the GSR could not figure out a way to let in their PAYING guests and the classic cars while keeping out the cruise spectators. As a consequence we drifted around the exterior entrances calling security until they finally let us in. I will avoid this hotel and encourage others to do so as well.1 of 2 Yahoo! NEW RENOVATIONS PAY OFFThis hotel looks like a vegas-type hotel. Most Reno hotels are dated and this is much more modern. Casino small but machines were paying off. Rooms were nice. Not too bad.....The renovated Summit rooms are quite nice with comfortable beds and nice views. Room service is great and the attendants are polite. Close to the airport. Tons of restaurants and a Starbuck's in the lobby. Downsides are: it's close to the airport so you hear the planes all evening, the check-in can take forever- they never have more ...1 of 1 Yahoo! Not what I expected, Nothing Grand about it...My husband and two daughters booked a two day stay at the Grand Sierra Resort Hotel. Let me say there was nothing Grand about our room. I was told when I book by phone that the hotel was undergoing room renovations. I was very clear and asking for a already renovated room. I was told we would be given a newly renovated Junior Suite.
