We asked for a room without many stairs, as I had knee surgery 2 weeks before arrival, and a view of the marina. Easy enough right? Off we go to room 415. Elevator to the third floor, off the elevator, turn left down 6 stairs, no biggie. Walk the length of the hotel to go up 8 or 9 more stairs to turn a corner to go up 6 more. Wait a minute we ...

Had a Great Time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/08
The hotel was cozy, clean, and had a good location to the "downtown" area, but off enough to enjoy the scenery. The hotel staff was great.
We love to stay here in August! A 2-night Romance Package includes accommodations, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, Grand Hotel lunch buffet, champagne & strawberries, 1 hr. private carriage ride, ferry tickets, and baggage handling for around $700. Otherwise food is at i$land price$.
The previous year we did everything a la carte and it was ...

A Sper Way to Savor the Flavor of Autumn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/07
The Room, the View, Dining are all excellent! Where else on the Island can you get a breathtaking view, excellent dining, round trip tickets, a hay ride and so much more......even fudge!
Simply put this is the best place to stay on the island. Forget any downtown hotel it is way too noisey, stay at the Island House were the food in second to none and the views are the same. The staff will do anything for you and are good at anticipating your needs. Ask for room 400, cute great view and one of the cheaper rooms in the hotel.

We look forward to it every year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/07
We take our kids and grandkids to Mackinac Island every year for long weekends. We always stay at the Island House. It's in a word "delightful". It's everything good you would expect in an old hotel. The staff is wonderful and friendly. The rooms are clean and unique. I don't think any two rooms are exactly alike. Any ...

My family and I just got back from the Island House and we can't say enough about how friendly everyone was from the front dest staff to the housekeepers. We bought a package that included our ferry ride breakfast and a dinner, the food was outstanding (can you say best Prime Rib ever) and the waitstaff was very attentive to not just me but my ...

Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/06
This hotel has so much potential to be fabulous. Love the history, but seriously needs TLC. Rooms are not in the best of shape, poorly maintained halls and rooms. We stayed Memorial Weekend on the "package" which included a dinner. I noticed they had a wedding going on the evening we wanted to eat there. I asked if we needed a ...
