I stayed at St Regis for two weeks in Oct 2009. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. The room should have been cleaner. They changed the bedding every three days. They did not refill the shampoo and conditioner. Never any in room coffee, never any kleenex, no free dvd rentals, no free newspaper. The restaurant and bar was deserted, too ...

Nice place to stay

I came to Detroit for business at a place in New Center. Since the Inn at Ferry St (also a nice place) was not my type, I opted for the St. Regis. I did not regret it: friendly staff, shuttle service to downtown, clean room, iPod alarm clock, good food, quiet at night... Overall, a nice experience; consider it to visits to Tech Town or the Henry Ford Hospital
To start our experience we learned that the hotel has no parking and you must pay them $15 per night for valet parking; so keep that in mind. The people working there are obviously not thrilled to be there and it shows. It is a nice building but could use some work. The carpet in our room was wet for some reason by the window, the remote for the ...

First off they charge you for valet parking which is just behind the hotel but you are not permitted to park your car there, they must do it for a very expensive fee. No ice, no salt and pepper on the room service, no fork, no coffee in the room for two days and when I requested some they brought something that wouldn't work in the coffee ...
We stayed few days at hotel to visit my father at Henry Ford Hospital, nice and careing people are working at hotel. Everytime valet guys were gettig my car, they ask about my father "How is he dong?"it made me feel good the people do care. Overall, I was very pleased with all staff and service.

If you like the look and feel of wealth without the price, you'll love the Hotel St. Regis! I feel like this is just another one of Detroit's hidden treasures, and it need more marketing and publicizing.
I enjoyed the food and service.

One of the best experiences of a lifetime
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/05/08
I recently came to Detroit to take care of some uncomfortable family business and stayed at the St Regis Detroit. After a hard day I was invited by the General Manager Rodney Jackson to the restaurant for dinner. There I had a wonderful meal and also listened to a Motown Legend singing with at the piano all the songs that I grew up on.
The service was average The room was very dark small and average for the amount you pay per nite was just not worth it. I would not stay there again.

I loved the new look, the service, and the personal feel. The staff was friendly, gave you eye contact and did not ignore you by staying on the phne when you approached. The rooms were classy and clean, and very reasonable. We were right in the Center of all types of attractions; casinos, theatres,(without the traffic hassle) and there was a fine Motown-Theme Resturant and lounge on site. Oh yes we would book there again.

Before I arrived at the hotel, I was very upset, the airport had lost my luggage and I had a job interview the following morning. When I stepped out my cab I was greeted by valet, despite my grumpiness, he assured me everything was ok and that the front desk will assist me in whatever I needed. It was hard to stay mad, especially when I arrived ...
