Your hotel room has some old dirty carpet. When you turn on the airconditioning your room stinks like mold. There is alot of traffic noises. The rooms are not insulated well. You have to ask for a Do Not Disturb sign. They re-use your sheets. It is not somewhere I would recommend to go.

15 days on a budget and it was worth it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/09
we booked into castle ocean resort from our travel agent in new zealand. we searched for reviews prior to this and came to the conclusion that we were going to be seeing the sites in hawaii and not spending alot of time inside a hotel room. so as long as the hotel provided those basic comforts we would be happy. what we were able to ascertain ...
Firstly, the good things: - Close to the beach. - Mostly friendly staff (especially Terrence, the night manager). - Inexpensive.
Negatives:
- A member of their staff cracked my laptop screen. On one of our last days in Waikiki, we left the room to go snorkeling at 2pm on a Sunday. A shuttle picked us up and dropped us back at the ...

Hotel is one block from the beach. Have stayed there twice and had a great experience both times. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Price is great and service is good.

To the few nitpickers: GET REAL!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/09
Just concluded a VERY NICE 5 night visit and all was well! Most people should realize that all or most hotels in the Waikiki area take a continual beating from thousands of tourists tramping on the rugs, going in and out of the rooms, lobbies and bars with beach sand all over them and suntan oil dripping from their bodies. Go look at some of the ...
The location is great close to everything bus stops, trolley, Waikiki beach, restaurants and International Market. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our first day we were on the 2nd floor Diamond Tower. It was awful the view we had was apartments with clothes hanging in the balcony. The next day we asked to change our room to a higher floor ...
My room was so noisy I could hardly sleep at night. The menu on the TV didn't work and they couldn't fix it. The hotel is old and looks old. The staff was nice, except for the maintenance guy. The restaurant was ok. But the "valet" parking was a joke. I had to pay $60 for parking and did it myself most of the time because the guy was sooo slow. I would never stay here again.
The Ocean Resort Waikiki is a good place to stay when in Hawaii. The Room Rates are resonable and the staff is friendly. I have never had any complaints about the hotel. I have Stayed there 6 times over a 5 year period. The rooms have always been very clean. My rooms are always Deluxe rooms in the Pali Tower with an ocean view.
