Should be called Horrible Bay ResortThis was the worst hotel that we stayed at on our entire Hawaiian trip! The room was dirty,smelly and full of bugs. The mattress was lumpy and worn. The wall was paper thin. We heard everything that was going on in the next room. The oceanview price that we paid for wasn't worth the view.Was this review helpful? True spirit of AlohaUncle Billy's Hilo Bay Hotel may not be the newest, most modern hotel in Hawaii but it sure has the spirit of old Hawaii. Great stay at Uncle Billy'sFirst of all we had a better than expected stay at Uncle Billy's Hilo Bay Resort. There were many negative reviews out there, thought set the record straight. There were no problems with our room everything functioned perfectly. Everything looked old but it was well kept. Very disappointed........The dirtiest rooms we had during a 3 week trip around the islands. Infested with bugs and ants. 2" gaps around in wall air-conditioner and windows that did not shut. A queen sized mattress on a king sized headboard. I was killing insects all night long on the bedside table. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but left after only 1 night.
