Came with a group of friends to Steamboat for the first time last winter. We had a great time and the Alpiner was a great jumping off point for everything in steamboat. The bus transportation up to the mountain was easy to catch and it was great to be able to come back downtown at night to hit up the downtown bars.

We wanted to stay downtown to be close to the restaurants and our favorite restaurant Winona's so we got a recommendation from local friends and tried the Alpiner Lodge. It is at 4th an Lincoln Ave, does the basics right, the people were friendly and we got a great price.

There is a lot to like about this older but completely remodeled motel. Our hosts were very helpful and accomodating. We drove all night and arrived early in the morning for a snowmobiling reservation. We were given our room early at no extra charge. Try to get service like that from corporate properties.
