Although the hotel was fine, I noticed a small problem with my bill resulting from my charging breakfast to my room on two different days. The charges that I approved in the restaurant were not the charges that appeared on my hotel bill - guess which was higher. Although I'm only talking about a few bucks, I think this is an unethical practice. I called the manager and left a message but he never returned my call.

The Durant is very well situated, close to UC Berkeley campus and is a convenient walk to pretty much any university location. I was there for graduation with my wife and mother and so we had two rooms in the hotel. My mom's, which was booked through Yahoo! Travel, was larger and more comfortable, with a small sitting area and a large bed. ...

1. The room was tiny (if you had the armoire with the TV in it open, you could not fit through). It was hot while we were there, no ventilation or air conditioning. There was a ceiling fan. And if you use a blow drier, you may blow the circuitry for the room (and have to wait for them to fix it).

The Durant is about the only true hotel near UC Berkeley, but that leaves a bit to be desired as the rooms and furnishings are small and old.
