The friendliness of staff, the four poster beds, the location, the wine-tasting session with the free massages, the 1st class cuisine offered in the Grand Cafe, the relaxing Spa with sauna and steam room made our stay in SF a most memorable one. Never stayed at a Kimpton before, but will look out for them from now on!
This hotel not only offered extremely comfortable accomodations but the friendliest staff who went out of their way to make my stay a great experience. Every morning Benji, the conceirge would greet me by name which made me feel so welcomed. All of the staff were amazing!! This was a great surprise and I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Also, the location is great, 2 blocks off of Union Square.
In an area of town that is filled with somewhat non-descript, large hotels, the Hotel Monaco offers a great antidote to that scene! Like all Kimpton Hotels (I've never stayed at a bad one), the room decor was very nicely-done and somewhat quirky/fun. It's very close to downtown shopping and Union Square and has an excellent restaurant (Grand Cafe) connected to the hotel.

This is a great hotel!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
Attentive service, cool decor, request a canopy bed. The hotel restaurant is super funky with some of the best decor I've seen. The only drawback was the confusing wireless internet which had options that ranged from free (slow) to $4.95 (faster)

Solid Boutique in SF
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/06
Staying at the Monaco was a most enjoyable experience. From the minute you are greeted at the front door, you know by the dress of the bellman than you are entering a good quality hotel which appreciates a bit of fun. This is compounded both by the architecture in the common areas (including a large fire place for those foggy evenings), the typical ...
This is a great hotel for going out to the theater, clubbing or just shopping at Union Square. The location is 2 blocks off union square, near several of the theaters and right near Ruby Skye. The rooms are small, but modern with stylish decor. Many have a great window seat and the bathrooms are roomy and clean. The rooms have comforatble beds and ...

When you need a jacuzzi in your room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/05
When you need a jacuzzi, and champagne in your room in a jiffy, this is the place. Around $350. Not bad. Very stylish as well.
When we got to the hotel, each person from the valet to the bell man, were all very pleasant, friendly and extremely efficient. The room decor was fabulous, luxurious and romantic. One of the managers personally took us to the room and handed out his business card should we need anything or had an issue. I have travelled to many states and ...
The Hotel Monaco in San Francisco is the first of what is now a brand name of different Monacos across the country. It is classified as a "boutique" hotel. It has a number of amenities that are unique to this hotel. One of the things that is different is that you can ask for a goldfish in your room if you want company. Another feature ...
This hotel had the best beds, pillows, etc ever!!!!!!! I normally have difficulty falling asleep, but here, as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out!!!!!!! Would go again in a heart beat!
