We loved everything about the lodge, and it's history. The lobby could be more inviting.
At first I thought the sign over the entrance, No Back Packs, was rude and snooty. But as I evaluated it I realized it was probably for safety reasons. I was just influenced by this cute little family of five, all wearing back packs, stop abrubtly at ...

We felt like royalty!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
We loved the atmosphere at this very historic hotel. Our room was very comfortable and the framed artwork of the canyon by various artists was a nice touch. Our bathroom had been totally updated but was designed to go with the age of the hotel with pedestal sink and vintage style tile floor. We loved the verandah on the second floor where coffee ...

Stay somewhere else in the park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/07
The room was minute. The bath was ancient. The restaurant staff were rude (we had to send the food back once as it was inedible). To top it all my bill was wrong, the person on the desk couldn't be bothered to sort it out there and then and promised a revised account would be sent to my home. Three weeks later I'm still waiting. They ...
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Our Honeymoon at El Tovar
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/13/07
We were treated extremely well by all with whom we came in contact with at El Tovar. It was reminesent of the 5 Star Hotels we've stayed at in other lovely locations.
The extra care by those at the reservations desk is much appreciated. The room was roomy and comfortable, and the meals were delicious.
The scenery cannot be outdone ...

An extraordinary experience we will repeat!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/07
On our trip to the Grand Canyon in January 07, we had stayed at the EL Tovar Hotel what a WOW experience we had from the minute we enter into the hotel till the time we left. Everyone who work there treated us if we were the only guests. We had gotten the romance package and it was well worth it. Our room was very well kept and cozy. In the ...

Not to be missed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/06
This elegant, historic property located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon should be included in everyone's visit to the area. The staff is exceedingly accommodating, the dining room cuisine (don't miss the Streusel Apple Pie) and the location are spectacular. The beautiful, inviting fireplace another highlight. Without hesitation, I would stay here again and would certainly suggest it to others.

Would never dine here again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
Ate breakfast at the El Tovar dining room. Terrible experience. Lipstick smudges on the glasses, crusty spots on the silverware. Coffee served cold. Other tables had similar complaints. Food was mediocre at best. Potatoes were burned on outside, raw on inside. Huge disappointment; would never consider eating there again. Staff was friendly, ...
