I stayed here a few years back and I am looking to return to Penang, but my memory of not being able to sleep because the bed and pillows were too hard is still at the forefront of my mind. Excellent room and great view of the ocean and pool. Hotel services is great and resturant has good food. The beach is public with a lot of vendors and haggler. For privacy, hotel guess sit on fanced in grass field in back of the beach. For the money, I'd go to other beach hotels in Asia before returning to Golden Sand.
