A bit pricey but worth a stayI echo everything others have written about old time service. Its stepping back in time and its worth that. The only hiccup was we saw a large lizard in the bathroom which is to be expected in Malaysia but surprised one of our party for whom this was the firt trip Treaty yourself to a drink or meal in the gardens overlooking the sea.

Hotel with a differenceA place to experience a bit of history with its olde world charm. Service first rate, suites massive and the view from each room superb. The only place to stay if in Georgetown, the E & O is centrally located. Great for sight-seeing. Altho we throughly enjoyed our 2 nights there would not advise a longer stay if looking for some sun and relaxation - the pool and outside recreation area is very small.2 of 2 Yahoo! Heaven on EarthWell, what do I say?!! My parents stayed at the E&O 53 years ago on their first night in Malaysia after they got married. My sister stayed there a few years ago.

Honeymoon July 07The hotel has an old world charm with a modern/clean style...the staff were all incredibly friendly - the rooms were beautiful and quiet. PARADISE MEMORIES FOREVERFROM THE MOMENT WE ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT AND MET BY THE DRIVER FROM THE E&O WE WERE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY
ON ARRIVAL WE WERE GREETED BY THE STAFF AT RECEPTION WE KNEW WE WERE IN FOR A SPECIAL WEEK. THE MEALS WERE ALL OF A HIGH STANDARD AND WHAT A VARIETY!!!! Elegance & Class from a bygone eraIts wonderful to see that good old fashion service is available at a hotel. We enjoyed the peaceful elegance & class that this hotel had to offer. A sea view suite would be a plus as the suites on the other side of the hotel are close to a fairly busy road. The staff at the E&O really did make our visit extremely memorable5 of 5 Yahoo! Till the next timeFantastic. what more can you say. It's everything one could want from a hotel, Friendly & helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. Food excellent and not expensive. Rooms (sorry suites) to die for clean, spacious and homely. Bathrooms to be seen to be believed. Can't wait to go back.3 of 3 Yahoo! going back againWe had a lovely suite with sweeping seaviews. We had probably best cleaners etc for the room we have experience (having stayed in some top hotels in Singapore) All staff were of a high standard. Breakfast was included and very good. We had five or six a la carte meals there but in the end opted to go elsewhere as it was not of a great standard and ...4 of 4 Yahoo! Best hotel in MalaysiaWe stayed at the E&O in 2004 and found luxury at a very affordable price. The suite was beautiful and spacious, with a view out across the gardens to the water, the service was excellent (the staff doted on our two-year-old son), and we even took a night out from eating hawker food to dine at 1815, the hotel restaurant. The location, in Georgetown, is also very central.
