There were crickets everywhere, mildew in the shower, nothing but the green bananas was fresh in the bare minimum continental breakfast, and the pool was green. This was about a $50/night place. At least I felt safe enough, mostly due to the fact I was in Hondo, Texas.

Don't pay more than $30

I have to say the staff was helpful. They brought extra linens to make a pallet on the floor for our 3-year-old.
But, the bed was soooo uncomfortable. And the train blasts by several times during the night. The TV cable was not connected and not plugged in. The batteries were dead in the remote. It took 12 hours to cool the room.
My party booked 2 room for 3 nights each and a 3rd room for 2 nights paying a total of about $600 total. We came from Illinois and Wisconsin for a family reunion. When we had company meet us at the BBQ pits we were told to leave because it was only for registered guests. The only posting was for the pool being for registered guests...we agreed ...
Can't be beat for the price. We stayed for 6 nights. Our room was in the back; was clean, comfortable rooms with cable TV, Microwave, and Refrigerator. Shower in bathroom with AC wall unit. Clean swimming pool 3 to 8 ft. deep and a picnic area with 2 barbecue pits, not gas. Free coffee in the mornings. Restaurants all around. I'm used to staying in $70 to $100 dollar rooms.

Small! But Quaint

The management office was very helpful and friendly. What better way than to find a local hotel to stay for a day... or two.

WHITETAIL LODGE - HONDO

FOR A SMALL TOWN IN "HUNTING COUNTRY" THIS IS EXCELLENT. JUST A CLEAN MOTEL TO SPEND THE NIGHT. THE REAL FUN IS IN THE FIELD.
