We used to live in Portland in the late 90s and frequented Skamania Lodge. We even got married there in 1999. The lodge was a very special place to us. Had not been back since moving to CA in 2000. Decided to spend our 10th anniversary there with 2 young kids and grandparents in tow. Sadly, we were very shocked and disappointed with how Skamania ...

honeymoon heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/08
We stayed in the first 2 nights of our honeymoon before returning to Portland to fly back to the New England area. We thoroughly enjoyed our room, and the food is fabulous-especially the Sunday Brunch and the macaroni & cheese (who would have thought this could be so fun for a grown-up?) The only negative experience was that room service took ...

We stayed in a room the felt like a coffin, our view if you could call it that was of a rock wall 3 1/2 feet from our window. The lobby does have an incredible view but so do many other places that are much more accomendating. When we asked for another room we were treated as if we'd ask for the moon.

We will not return and I would suggest anyone considering it to have a guaranteed view room or don't bother. The rooms are VERY sparcely furnished and the decor is at best minimalistic. I think the Econologde down the road offers a better view and better furnished rooms than we had.

The food was fantastic. We ate at the Sunday Brunch and sampled many items. Desserts were simply heavenly - some of the best we have tasted.

Relaxation Here I Come

For my boyfriends birthday this year I booked a room for Sunday Nite (Weekend energizer package) I was impressed with the taste of the room. We have eaten at the lodge several times, but finally stayed the nite. After staying 1 nite I felt like I had been on vacation for a wk. We relaxed, I used the pool and hot tub. Great views no matter which ...

Really awesome place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/05
I just love the huge log fireplace. It's a great lodge to go to in the winter, when it's cold and rainy. The view of the Columbia Gorge is exceptional at this locale.... the fire is cozy, and they serve free Starbucks coffee in the morning.... You can just sit and read or play games... The restaurant had exceptional food, and the area has lots to do.
