Anyone giving this place a decent rating is probably an employee or the owner. This hotel is not a resort at all. They nickle and dime the guests (have to pay $15 for a VERY small, miniature refrigerator; pay $9.95 A DAY for internet; pay $5.50 a day to exercise; etc). The price to stay is already high, considering this is NOT a resort. The rooms are old. The lighting in the rooms is VERY dim. I'd never stay there again.

We spent our wedding night at SSHR. The experience rated as one of the worst night stays we have ever had, rating lower than the dozens of hostels at which we have stayed. First of all, the suite originally assigned to us was sub-par. It was antiquated in the wrong ways: no toilet lid, horrific carpet, gaudy, frayed furniture from the 70s, rust, ...

Our baseball team stayed there back in April for a few days while we were at a Baseball tournament nearby.
Was ok but for RESORT type place I was terribly dissappointed in the pool. There were ducks swimming in it and it needed a good cleaning as the pool furniture could have been cleaned up some as well.

I have visited this site on several occasions.Each time my visit has been more and more impressive. They have a beautiful swimming pool with swim up bar, the marina is so peaceful, and they are just minutes from Houston and Kemah. For a great weekend getaway that's not far away, this is the place to be.
