Wouldn't stay again...

The accommodations were OK but parking, even to wait for a valet, is a nightmare. We went elsewhere for the final three nights of our stay and felt we got better accommodations with a view of the harbour for about the same price.
This is a beautiful hotel and there are simple fixes for these problems. What a shame they haven't figured it out!

Enjoyed the stay at the Doubletree. My suite was perfect. Valet parking was not a good experience although Doubletree agreed to pay for damages that occurred in the parking lot.

SUPPOSE TO BE NON-SMOKING WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT , ASK TO SEE YOUR ROOM BEFORE STAYING!
By Ang, 08/31/07
What a disappointment. My family and I were visitng Charleston for the first time and we were very unhappy with our acomodations here at the Doubletree Inn. When we first arrived at the hotel we thought sure woud be delighted but once we entered our room my family was very disappointed. The room was dark, dreary, smelled of smoke and this was a ...

Had a wonderful stay
By cathy r, 08/11/06
My friends and I sort of stumbled on this hotel after trying to book a few other hotels downtown. The hotel lobby was beautiful and the staff were wonderful. The rooms are very nice, with comfortable big beds.
Even though everything in Charleston is pretty much in walking distance (assuming you are in good health) it was great to stay where everthing was 'right there'. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and the price was acceptable.
Honestly, we were not "blown away" by the Doubletree and it really hit the ...

Great Hotel!
By Missy D, 07/17/06
My husband & I have stayed at several different Inn's and B&B's in Charleston. However, when it comes to location and service and price this is the best place to stay. If it's your first trip to Charleston, I recommend you stay in a historic inn or B&B. But if you have experienced that, stay at the Doubletree. The ...

We really liked this hotel - very good location and nice staff. The kids loved the two level suite. We would stay there again.

We loved it!

The hotel is in the heart of the historic district within walking distance of most attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bedroom was upstairs, very private. Living room/kitchen downstairs, had everything we needed.

Nice but wouldn't go to again
By Susan P, 09/07/05
I love that the hotel was within walking distance of everything downtown Charleston. The only thing I didn't really like about the hotel was that if you wanted your car taken care of you had to pay for valet parking and that was 16.00 a night. The room was very nice but you had to get a suite to get amnenites like a frig or microwave. I can get that at Wingate Inn a whole lot cheaper.
