I am a resident of Topsail Island and after reading the Jolly Roger reviews I felt that I should pass on new information about the motel. The units were updated over the past two winters which means that management realized the place needed a bit of attention.

Absolutely loved the oceanview from our king suite!! It was reasonably priced and perfect if you have small children and want some privacy at night. The best place to stay in Topsail! The ability to walk right onto the beach, take a long relaxing walk down the pier, or to be able to be within a few minutes of shops, food, or groceries! We would definitely recommend this hotel...worth the money and the travel.

I have stayed at the Jolly Roger many, many times and it's wonderful!! You can't get closer to the beach. And the pier is awesome! You can fish all night if you want to.
The Jolly Roger is for people who love to fish, not city-slickers who cannot do anything but complain. Please do us all a favor....don't go back, we don't want to hear the whinning!

The Jolly Roger is a great family motel. If you want all the frills then go somewhere else. Please! My family and I have been going there for over 30 years. We have been there many times and during all seasons. Even been the only car in the parking lot during the winter. So yes. Please. All you people wanting a 4 or 5 star hotel, please go to ...

This is a wonderful little motel to stay at and spend time with the family. The motel is older, but I prefer to stay in undeveloped areas to better apprieciate the local culture. Most of the island is residential, and this is one of two hotels in Topsail Beach. I loved it. The rooms were clean, and the location was unbeatable.

I like the Jolly Roger. Sure...it's old...and you have to wash the dishes before you use them...but you do get what you pay for. I've stayed here almost every trip to Topsail because I like the people. It's not the Hilton but it's OK for a couple nights!

I read these reviews before I went there and should have listened but didn't. I rented an oceanfront efficiency for 3 nights. Check in 3pm, out 11am, not much time if you stay one night. The limited number of pier fishing sites left in NC make this hotel a must support for fishermen.The rooms are right on the ocean and although they aren't new you can stay in an apartment style room with a basic kitchen and enjoy the pier next door.
