The hotel was extremelty spotless. We were so impressed. The pool was crystal clear. Perfect location to stay - restaurants and shops within a few steps. Beach directly across the street. We have stayed at other hotels on York Beach - this is by far the best !!!!

Sands by the Sea is in a great location with affordable prices. That's hard to come by. The staff was friendly, our room was clean and the hotel was quite. My wife, daughter and I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite but we ended up checking out one night early because the beds were so uncomfortable! If the Sands updates their mattresses we would go back. Overall, good location and value, but extremely uncomfortable mattresses.

Love the location, you can bring the whole family and the older children have the opportunity to do activities by themselves without having their parents at their side all the time, then everyone can enjoy a day at the beach together. It is also great that you can park your car when you arrive and not get back into it until its time to go home,if you so choose.

The staff were all but invisible. The rooms were very sterile, tawdry motel decor, smelling of disinfectant. There was mold in the bathroom. Showers with very little pressure. The location can't be beat though.
I have stayed here several years, but found the rising rates, with very little justification for them, have forced me to look elsewhere.

HAVE BEEN COMING HERE FOR 8 YEARS LOVE IT THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY AND EVERYTHING IS CLOSE BY. DO NOT HAVE TO USE YOUR CAR TO SEE ANYTHING UNLESS YOU TRAVEL OUT SIDE OF YORK.JUST STAY AND ENJOY THE VIEW POOL,AND OR BEACH

Stayed for 2 days for a firefighter convention, the stay was nice but i thought the beds needed alot of help, they were very hard for my pregnant wife and also myself other than that had a good stay ,staff was very polite as well thanks

I liked that the room was very clean. It was close to a nice little town that you could walk to. It was also across the street from a nice romatic beach. The people there were very friendly. I saved my room ticket from when we were there on september 18, 2004. My room number was 54 maybe when we come back it will be there waiting for us on September 30, 2006. Ken E
