Had my wedding reception there. It was a terrible experience. The food order was wrong, the setup was wrong, the rooms were dirty for my guests, and to top it all off, the manager, Michelle Rolling, treated my complaints terrible.

Front desk very rude, had little time to help. The wheelchair room I was directed to was on the 7th floor, phone was 12 feet away from the bed,no shelves in the bathroom, etc. I called the desk to ask what the procedure was in case of a fire, I was told they have never had a fire and no procedure was needed.I attended a State Voc Rehab Convention being ...

I always stay at the Julien!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/05
Having grown up in DBQ and have moved away many years ago. I find this to be the real dubuquers hotel. It has the feel of a great midwest town hotel. The staff and the building really make it feel like home. After all these years of being away from DBQ it makes me feel like I never left .Thanks for being there Julien.

Absolutely Charming
By djoch2000, 08/29/05
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Julien Inn. Joe the bartender was great and so vert friendly. Local "historian" Michael filled us in on all the charm and history the hotel is known for. Didn't pay attention to any of the not so nice reviews and we had a great trip. Food was excellent and service was just as it should be. We will go again!

We will stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/05
We have stayed here several times in the last few years for one and two nights at a time. We have always enjoyed our stays and plan on returning again when we are in the area. The restoration of the building is great, parking wasn't a problem, the staff is always helpful, courteous and informative. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The ...

Spookables aplenty

If you are weird enough and brave enough, stay a night or two here. The hotel was once owned by Al Capone and is reportedly haunted (I have a friend who worked there and she has seen many ghosts and had people chekc out in the middle of the nights because of odd happenings). The Ballroom and architecture is worth seeing too.

Historic Hotel Met Our Expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/04
We stayed one night in the historic Julien Inn, named for Dubuque's founder, Julien Dubuque, and found a clean, comforable, room for a reasonable rate. The Assistant Manager was courteous and informative, helping us get oriented during our brief stay by pointing out the elevator, nearest ice machine to our room, and recommended a great place ...

Treated Very Rudely
By gizmorrl, 04/03/04
My son stayed at The Julien Inn for the NCAA wrestling championships held at nearby Loras College in March. The hotel is old but quite interesting and the rooms were nice. All went well until the last day when he returned to his room to find all his stuff gone! Turns out his coach made a mistake and didn't reserve the room for the final night. ...
