I stayed at the Forest Motel one night in July only because it was close to an event I was attending. The room given to me was a 'non-smoking' room; it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and mildew. Mold and rust stains in the bathroom. There was a cigarette burn in the bedspread. The person at the reception desk looked like she was ...
This is NOT "The Ritz." If you want to save money, stay here; otherwise drive to Frederick or Baltimore. It's old, it's run down, and nothing short of a wrecking ball is going to improve it! None of the rooms have independent climate control, so if the heat is on in one room, it will be on in ALL rooms. Too hot for you? TOO BAD, the front desk said. "We're an old motel!"
This place is the biggest dump I've ever seen. The ceiling was covered with water stains. The walls were patched and unpainted. There was a square of plywood nailed to the rug (???). ONE ROOM HAD AN OLD LEAK IN THE CEILIND THAT WAS PATCHED WITH TAPE. A WOODEN PATCH ON THE FLOOR OVER CARPET. THE BATHROOMS WERE MILDEW AROUND THE EDGES. THE TILES ON THE SHELF FOR THE SUITCASE WERE ...
I stayed here several times when I used to travel alot to Ellicott City. It is a classic motel, with vintage interiors that give you the feeling of the American motel before the chains took over. Not only does it have charm, but it is comfy too. I highly recommend it, not only for the nostalgia and for people who are into vintage motels, but because it is a nice quiet break from the bigger chains in and around Baltimore.
