This hotel was completed in the mid 60s. Of course you cannot compare it with present day rated hotels in Jakarta. First time we went there we were put in room 309 (yes beside the famed 308). The staff were friendly, doing their best despite all the limitations. You have the impression that this hotel is past it's glory. It's like travelling back in time to the Sukarno era. We've been there several times ever since.
This hotel was Indonesia's second international standard hotel after the (now closed) Hotel Indonesia. Although it probably isn't really international standard anymore it is a very interesting 'meuseum piece' and the location right on the beach is fantastic.
