As a worldwide traveller this has got to be one of the worse Sheraton branded hotels I have ever stayed in. No hot water, shabby hotel, food is questionable and rooms have a damp smell, cannot control airconditioning, either artic cold or cold nothing else. It's a shame Sheraton is willing to put it's name to this hotel.

Unexpected excellence in Quality and Service

Staying for a week at the Sheraton Hotel, Djibouti was truly breathtaking. The room was ornately decorated in Mulim attire and the staff complemented me as I left for my eco-tours daily. In the evenings I would purchase a female and bring her through the lobby and even the women staff oggled at my fine catch. The staff were too over eager to work ...

In desperate need of a renovation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/06
Im in the unfortunate postion of having to stay at this establishment every month as I`m airline crew. It is probably luxury compared to the economic state of the country but to the seasoned traveller it does not deserve even a 3 star rating. The hotel is vey rundown, poorly maintained, rooms are dirty, hot water non existent and facilities poor. Can not believe that the Sheraton chain is happy to even put its name to such a monstrosity.

Not as good as hoped
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/06
The hotel is run down and not at all what I expect from Sheraton. The bag carrier was too persistant in trying to find something to do to get a tip. The desk staff was too casual. Not a great hotel and if there were competition, they'd be out of business. Plus the room smelled like wet carpet.
The city of Djibouti is clogged with war refugees, and other homeless. It's like an island, away from the poverty and chaos of the city. Everything worked fine. Food portions were skinmpy. It is afterall, Africa. Considering the state of the country, the hotel was better than expected.

Best place to stay in an other wise miserable climate.

A little far from the downtown area. Located on a nice beach front.
I was there last year, while working with the UN. While I can say it is the best Hotel in Djibouti, I can also say it is the worst Sheraton I have ever stayed in. It's poorly maintained and very expensive. Then again, so is all of Djibouti. If you want the best in Djibouti, I recommend you go there. If you want some adventure, shop around at some of the smaller hotels.
