I stayed there last April and was very pleasingly surprised with the hotel: I was looking for a nice and ordinary hotel in the city and found this one very special. Loved the design and prestige of the place, that's standing out from chain hotels. I was told there is a blog for the hotel http://grand-hotel-francais-charme-marais-bastille.com/
My husband and I were in Paris in May. The hotel was perfect! We made the most of each day, so the room size did not matter. The hotel and room were beautiful, and we loved that it was located outside the city. It made the visit feel authentic. The manager, Zyad, made us feel welcome and provided us with helpful information for our day trip ...
Very nice hotel and I selected it based on reading so many of the other reviews BUT you are definitely out to the edge of the city and will need to use the Metro to go to any of the major attractions - not bad - just be aware. Also better choice of cafes and restaurants toward the center although we found wonderful bakeries and there's a small super market across the street. Enjoy

This was a charming hotel a metro ride from all the city's sights. Small rooms, but very clean with everything you could you need - and the shower is amazing!! Very friendly and helpful staff. A little way out of the centre of the city, but all in all, a great hotel.
After reading the website's blog at http://grand-hotel-dore-charme-marais-bastille.com/, and the article at http://news-e.hoosta.com/, I was intrigued to give this hotel a try by the fact that it is one of the oldest family-business hotel in Paris. Now after trying this hotel, I would highly recommend this hotel.
Don't let the Title scare you away, The Grand Hotel Francaise is a delightful place to rest in between excursions through the city of light. The staff is very friendly and fluent in English. The rooms are small, but most hotel rooms in Paris are and really you shouldn't be spending a lot of time in your room. You're in PARIS!!! Still I ...

We liked the location, in a very authentic not touristy part of Paris. Lots of good restaruants and supermarket nearby. We loved the hotel service, helpful friendly English speaking staff, willing to help and advise on where to go,best way to get there.
Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast very good. Hotel is close to 2 metro stations, ...
My wife and I stayed there for 5 nights last month (Oct. 5 -10) and absolutely loved the room, staff and very convenient location for restaurants, cafes, pastry shops and groceries. A stone's throw from Nation which connects to RER and four Metro lines; hotel is right above Rue des Boulets Metro station. The staff is so helpful; ask Mgr. Zyad to make you a cup of LaVazza coffee...we will return on our next trip to Paris!
